Yamato – Complete Series Blu-ray (1974)

Yamato – Complete Series Blu-ray (1974) follows humanity’s desperate struggle for survival and the extraordinary interstellar journey of the legendary space battleship Yamato.

Earth is approaching destruction after a devastating conflict has left the planet in critical condition. With humanity running out of time, a crew of soldiers, pilots and specialists boards the Yamato and begins a dangerous mission across the galaxy in search of a way to save their world.

The voyage takes the crew far from Earth and into hostile regions of space filled with powerful enemies, unfamiliar worlds and increasingly difficult challenges. Every stage of the journey tests their ability to work together while placing the survival of humanity in their hands.

At the center of Yamato is the relationship between the members of the crew. Their experiences aboard the ship explore courage, loyalty, friendship and sacrifice as they confront battles and personal losses during their long journey.

The Yamato itself becomes more than a battleship. For the people remaining on Earth, it represents hope and the possibility that civilization can survive despite overwhelming circumstances.

As the mission continues, the crew faces large-scale space battles, difficult decisions and dangerous encounters while attempting to complete a journey that could determine the future of the human race.

Yamato combines classic space opera, military science fiction, adventure and drama with futuristic technology, interstellar exploration and dramatic battles. The story also focuses on deeply human themes including duty, perseverance, friendship and the consequences of war.

Originally released in 1974, Yamato became an important work in the development of Japanese science-fiction animation and helped establish the dramatic style associated with later space-based anime.

This complete series edition brings together the 1974 Yamato anime for viewers interested in classic science fiction, military space adventures and landmark Japanese animation.
